Vetiver

Vetiver essential oil is an earthy essence, made from the clumpy, green grass of the vetiver plant, native to India. It has a mild, yet distinctively sharp fragrance. Its musky, earthy scent is often used in men’s colognes and other perfumes.

Tangerine

Vetiver oil is one of the lesser-known essential oils, but with powerful properties such as anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, cicatrizant, and sedative, it is not an oil to miss.

Vetiver encourages patience and stillness of the mind. It is known for its powers of inducing tranquillity and calmness, and over time has earned the title as 'the oil of tranquillity'.

Vetiver helps ground and bring individuals back to reality. It is a relaxing oil, and can be used to soothe and relieve anxiety, stressful situations, and depression. It is a well-known sedative and can help settle nervousness, emotional outbursts, and restlessness, making it an extremely useful oil for sufferers of insomnia, and can also help improve breathing patterns.

“I am fully grounded in the experience of the present moment. I am at peace with what is.”

For those times when you’re struggling to focus, Vetiver can help stimulate and wake up a tired brain to aid in concentration and improve alertness.

Vetiver promotes the growth of new tissue and makes it great for caring for wounds and treating other skin issues. It is amazing at repairing discolouration of tired and aging skin and helps with the treatment of acne and stretch marks.

Vetiver is a natural insect repellent and has a high toxicity for ticks, so it’s the perfect oil to use when you’re outdoors and needing something to keep the bugs away from your skin.

Vetiver also supports immunity and digestion and is a perfect oil for balancing hormones, regulating menstrual cycles, and strengthening the reproductive system.

Vetiver essential oil blends well with jasmine, lavender, grapefruit, and ylang-ylang, so the next time you’re feeling run down from the emotional stress of life, try pairing one or two of these oils with vetiver to use in your diffuser to offer a calming effect and create feelings of ease and contentment.
