BLACK SPRUCE

Black Spruce is part of the pine family. The fresh, woody scent is reminiscent of snow covered forestlands, but with a smoother, sweeter scent that most other evergreen oils. The warm smell of the forest makes it feel like a Christmas oil, but the generous benefits of Black Spruce means this oil is useful right throughout the year.

Distilled from the needles and branches of the Picea Mariana tree, Native Americans have been using Black Spruce for thousands of years in ointments, salves, and lotions to help with the healing of skin issues such as sores, wounds, and boils. They were also known to use the resin as a chewing gum and to lather on their skin to ward off insects.

Nowadays, Black Spruce is predominantly used as a respiratory aid, to soothe skin and muscles, and to assist in managing stress.
